Optical Coherence Tomography has become a very important tool in diagnosing the eye conditions. Optical coherence tomography (OCT) is a non-invasive imaging test that uses light waves to take cross-section pictures of your retina, the light-sensitive tissue lining the back of the eye.
The OCT machine scans your eye without touching it. Scanning takes about 5 to 10 minutes.
It is like examining the retina under a microscope to give us insights into diagnosing the retinal conditions and also to monitor the response of these conditions to the treatments given.
These measurements help with early detection, diagnosis and treatment guidance for retinal diseases and conditions, including age-related macular degeneration and, diabetic eye disease, among others.
It can also be used in diagnosis and management of glaucoma & corneal disorders.
